938collective’s 24-Hour Play Festival

938collective is hosting their FIRST-EVER 24-Hour Play Fest and they:

“want you in on the action! You’ve got 24 hours to whip up a play inspired by a unique piece of art. Directors, actors, and production designers will turn those scripts into a performance with audience members from our community.

We are also reaching out to the Gowanus Creative Studios community because we would love to discuss potential studio-sharing opportunities as submissions flood in, and we are looking for rehearsal spaces for our teams and artists; if you are interested in sharing your studio with us for the festival, please contact them via the email on their site.

Tentative Festival Schedule

Thursday, February 22 ( 8:00 PM )

where: 117 9th street

• Initial meeting
• teams get to meet for the first time
• teams select a piece of art to inspire their writing (art share with Gallery Particulier)
• Playwrights begin writing original work

Friday, February 23 ( 8:00 PM – 1:00 AM) 

where: 117 9th street + TBD

• Rehearsals
• Blocking
• Design team building/creating/organizing/sourcing props, sets, costumes, etc.

Saturday, February 24 (12:00 PM – 12:00 AM)

where: TBD

• load in/break down to performance venue
• tech/dress rehearsal
• Community members are invited to audience our work
• Ticketed event
• doors open at 7:30 PM and curtain at 8:00 PM
• BYOB event
