938collective‘s December programming includes a workshop on Creating a Meditation or Prayer and a Holiday Open Mic & Coat Drive.
“Body Wash” is a 2-day workshop on Saturday December 2nd and Sunday December 3rd 3pm-5pm, led by Maya Rubio:
“How do you express praise and gratitude? Rubio will lead the group through expanded modes of meditation and prayer practices, incorporating creative acts like writing, movement, and sensory attunement. Then, together as a group, we will discuss and workshop new possibilities of sacred practices.
- Each participant will have the opportunity to lead the group through a five-minute meditation or prayer of their own creation. Then, we will discuss our experiences, and how we would like to iterate upon these processes in the future.
- This workshop is open to anyone curious about incorporating a spiritual practice in their lives. Participants should dress comfortably both days, and bring a notebook or journal if they have one they love. Ideally participants join both days, but if you can only come to one day, please let us know!”
Their Holiday Open Mic & Coat Drive (Saturday, December 16th at 8pm) invites you to perform (or watch others perform) – and donate coats to help those less fortunate:
“As we approach the holiday season, we’re excited to extend an invitation to a special event that embodies the spirit of giving and community – our Holiday Open Mic and Coat Drive! Bring your talents and friends for an evening filled with entertainment, camaraderie, and the warmth of community. We’re partnering with New York Cares to collect coats for those in need during the winter months. Please take a moment to check your closets for gently used coats in good condition that you no longer wear. Your generosity will make a meaningful impact.
BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage): To add to the festive atmosphere, you’re welcome to bring your own beverage. Let’s raise a toast to the holiday spirit and the wonderful community that makes events like these so special.
