About:

"Alex Goldberg is a Visiting Adjunct Professor of Interior Design and Interdisciplinary Studies at Pratt Institute. In 2021 she was awarded the state of the disciplines fellowship grant at Pratt Institute to further develop her research on repairing the fracture between creativity and healing. This is the underlying drive for her creative practice and she finds deep joy in participating in symposiums and residencies in which she can share her work and learn from others. This past year, Alex facilitated her Body Language Workshop at Unresolved 2.0 with the Enclothed Collective in New York City and participated in The Swimming Hole Collaborative Residency in Woodstock, New York. She has practiced internationally, most notably she performed her work Channelling Palms at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tiznit, Morocco.

Through her creative practice, she studies how experiences in the material world can be a portal to our understanding of the immaterial world. She balances intuition with analytical thinking to uncover and learn from visual, tactile, experiential, and theoretical metaphors. Her philosophy in this work is to learn to balance dualities, so that two opposing elements can develop a harmonious relationship.

Her creative practice facilitates a deeper knowing of oneself. It is a process of deconditioning from the constructs that do not serve us, while also reconnecting with the learning and structures that do. Through combining design thinking, energy healing, and art making Alex works to make hidden emotions seen: the invisible becomes visible, and through this process visibility serves as a catalyst for change."
