REID Architecture PLLC is a full-service award-winning architecture practice with a primary focus on cultural, institutional, and commercial projects and collaborations with clients, artists, and institutions. Through explorations and an emphasis on light, material, and site context REID creates sensitive interventions that enhance the human experience of architecture and space while providing unique solutions with both new and existing structures. Reid Freeman AIA is the founding principal of REID Architecture and has over 30 years of experience in the field of architecture. His practice places high value on his relationship and close collaboration with clients, consultants, fabricators, and contractors. Past work experience, before founding REID architecture in 2018, includes six years as the founder and principal architect of Architecture Operations D.P.C., seven years with James Carpenter Design Associates (JCDA), and eight years at Architecture Research Office (ARO) in New York City. At ARO he served as the project architect for significant award winning project collaborations for Prada with international firms such as Rem Koolhaas/OMA, Herzog and de Meuron. Prior to his time at ARO, Reid worked for Peter Eisenman and Audrey Matlock. Reid’s work is framed by his extensive teaching experience. He is currently serves as a part-time faculty member in the Master of Architecture program at Pratt Institute's GAUD. Reid has taught design and technical courses at the Royal Danish Design Academy, Princeton University, Harvard University, The New School’s Parsons School of Design, and Tulane. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, a Masters of Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and is licensed to practice architecture in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Texas, and Washington State. In addition to his practice, Reid is also a published architectural photographer with work appearing in Architectural Record, Architecture, The Architect’s Newspaper, Detail, AA Files, Daidalos, and A+U.
