Gowanus Canal Conservancy advocates and cares for ecologically sustainable parks and public spaces in the Gowanus lowlands while empowering a community of stewards.
Their Lowlands Nursery offers plants well-adapted to the urban conditions of Gowanus, celebrating the local ecosystem and educating and engaging the community.
“Our plant inventory centers on native urban-adapted plants, which we sell to individuals, civic institutions, and landscape designers. Our mission-driven nursery supports stewardship of the Gowanus lowlands by providing plant material for installations and engaging students and volunteers in direct plant care. All proceeds support Gowanus Canal Conservancy’s mission-based programs.”
They recently moved near us: To 25 9th Street! A 5 minute walk – right near the subway (F/G train Smith-9th Street station).
You can browse their inventory and purchase plants in person or pre-order to pick up during nursery open hours every Thursday and Saturday from 10am-2pm. You can email them at: plants@gowanuscanalconservancy.org
